$145,000 Raised to Support Families

What a wet and wonderful weekend! The Chapel Hill race community achieved many firsts this weekend.  The race sold out with over 350 registered racers, a record for this race.  The most money ever was raised in Chapel Hill, $145,000 (and still counting), to support families in treatment at UNC and Duke Children’s hospitals. And we held our first “thon” run only event due to weather related safety concerns.  Our racers, volunteers and their families were amazing and we are so grateful to them for their enthusiasm and flexibility.  Not to worry, we had plenty of donuts and an EPIC dance party!

Eighteen racers raised over $1,000!

These STAR Supporters, received a special white racer shirt to showcase their outstanding fundraising efforts. THANK YOU to all the racers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers who made this weekend a success.

One of the best parts of race weekend is connecting our racers to the JUST TRYAN IT STARS, especially our Face of the Race, Evan. During packet pick-up every racer selects a STAR to race in honor or memory of.  The JUST TRYAN IT STARs are strong, courageous and inspirational.  Evan’s mom, Amy, shared words of wisdom and gratitude with our race community.

Thankful every day.

Amy expressed her thanks for every day that she has with her son, Evan. They have been through a year of hell, but thanks to the doctors at Duke and CHOP and the love and support of their family and friends, Evan is finished treatment. Evan is a warrior and they are grateful to JUST TRYAN IT for easing their financial burden, so they could stay focused on the fight against cancer.

Thank you to our 2023 Chapel Hill Sponsors
