We Love Our Volunteers

Were you inspired as a parent at one of our triathlons? Have you aged out of our races? Would you like to get involved in a larger role planning for next year’s race? Or, are you interested in cheering triathletes on along the course?

All are welcome to join this year’s crew and we would love your expertise – whatever it may be. Roles vary in time commitment and we are sure to have a spot for you! Contact Carrie with any questions.

Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities

Ken Kaputo

We are proud to partner with companies in support of our mission. We work with Human Resource leaders to easily engage employees in registration and volunteer engagement. Participation as an organization fosters team building and boosts morale. References available upon request.

As head of HR at Enterprise, I was looking to find a meaningful way for
our employees to give back to the community while at the same time
have fun working together towards a common goal. Volunteering at
the JUST TRYAN IT Kids Triathlon is the perfect match. It is easy for our
employees to register and participate and the good will and inspiration
of the day carries over into the work we do day in and day out.

Ken Caputo Volunteer Service Award

2018 Winners

Tim Cohen – Chapel Hill
Zoe Toscos – Bethesda
Pierson Gammage – Alexandria

The Ken Caputo Volunteer Service Award is presented annually at each of our triathlons.

Ken Caputo was a volunteer who served in a “catch all” role. Arriving at 6am, he would welcome volunteers, fill in where needed, oversee the radio communications for our event, and pump everyone up. He was notorious for his huge smile and even bigger hug. Ken knew race day was all about the kids. He made it his mission to support and encourage our racers and inspire our volunteers by his example of enthusiasm, can-do spirit, and a healthy touch of goofiness.

This award is presented to the race day volunteer who best demonstrates these qualities. The recipient is announced in the post race newsletter and is honored on our social media outlets, website, and given a small token of our appreciation.

Although many months of planning go into each JUST TRYAN IT triathlon, we know that it is our race volunteers and racers that make the day so special. We look forward to showing our appreciation for all their contributions.
