Violet

October 2024

“Violet was diagnosed with severe congenital neutropenia (SCN) at just 7 months old. While some people with SCN can manage the condition with regular injections, Violet’s case left her at high risk for developing leukemia. At around 18 months old, a bone marrow biopsy confirmed that Violet’s SCN was now coupled with a diagnosis of juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML).

“After a thorough search of the donor registry and testing within her family, Violet, unfortunately, did not have an exact match. This led her parents to consult with some of the top pediatric bone marrow transplant teams around the world, seeking the best care for her treatment. Ultimately, they chose Duke Children’s Hospital for Violet’s bone marrow transplant, and they are deeply grateful for the exceptional care she’s receiving.

“Violet is now in the fight of her life, undergoing conditioning chemotherapy, which will be followed by her transplant. We kindly ask all who read Violet’s story to lift her up in prayer, hoping for her healing and a long, vibrant life ahead. Your support means the world to us!

“As Violet approaches her second birthday, she remains a bright, fun, and smart little princess. Some of her favorite things include:

  • Animals: Violet has a special love for dogs and lights up with joy every time she sees one. At home, she’s adored by her four dogs, who love her dearly.
  • Playing with her big sister: She thinks her big sister is the funniest and silliest person ever, and they have the best time together.
  • Singing: Violet loves to sing along to any tune, and her parents think she has the voice of an angel!

“Thank you for keeping Violet in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate it more than words can express.”
