Trent

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Trent, our 2018 Chapel Hill Face of the Race. Trent was such a blessing to the JUST TRYAN IT community and to all who had the good fortune to know him. He and his family touched our lives in so many deep and profound ways. In 2018 Trent spoke at the Chapel Hill Kids Triathlon Opening Ceremonies. He spoke of all that he had to endure and the hope, faith and gratitude that guided him every step of the way.

“It’s hard some days to see a silver lining because I go through a lot of rough times”, Trent said. “I hope in the future that I will be able to do the fun things I want to do…and not have to worry about my health. I’m grateful to JUST TRYAN IT for helping my family at a difficult time and thank you for helping other families like mine get through cancer.”

Trent greeted racers, spoke to school groups and shared his story to raise awareness and help others. Several times the Twinions (as he and his brother, Tyuss, are known) would celebrate their birthday by raising money for JUST TRYAN IT, paying it forward. Over the past three years we have watched Trent and his loving family endure treatments, transplants, and multiple hospitalizations on his cancer journey. We are saddened by his loss, but grateful to have known and learned from him. Together we honor Trent, his parents, his brother, and the doctors and nurses that cared for him. Fight Like A Twinion #TeamTrent forever in our hearts!
