Laila

Laila was 2 years old when she received a multi-visceral transplant at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH) in August 2016. She was diagnosed with T Cell post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder or PTLD in June, and returned to MGUH to be closely monitored by the transplant team during chemotherapy treatment. She did not respond to the first line of treatment, and now has begun a new chemotherapy treatment plan. Her mother has been unable to work due to the need to be at Laila’s bedside. Laila’s sister is currently staying with her maternal grandmother and the family is having difficulty paying their bills while mom is unable to work.

Thanks to the support from Laila’s social workers and Family Reach, JUST TRYAN IT was able to immediately issue a check to cover their mortgage and utility payments to help their family focus on Laila’s care.
