Kwami was a happy, healthy child until one day he became ill at school and began to exhibit a number of strange symptoms over the next few months. An MRI finally revealed a malignant tumor in the pineal region of his brain. He went through intensive chemotherapy and proton radiation treatment over the next 10 months with success. The tumor was gone. Kwami steadily recovered and had two good years before another MRI revealed signs of recurrence three years after his original diagnosis. He then went through additional treatments, with some success and some complications. Sadly, Kwami lost his battle with cancer at nine years old.
