What started out as a pain in my groin the summer of 2014, resulted in an initial diagnosis of testicular cancer. After surgery to remove the tumor, was informed that the cancer had spread to my liver, lungs, and lymph nodes, and had jumped from Stage 1 to Stage 4. My cancer was given the name mixed germ cell. This was the summer before I was to begin my sophomore year in high school. An aggressive 4 months of three different types of chemotherapy, rotating one week in the hospital, three weeks at home. Finally at the end of 2014, docs at Georgetown’s Lombardi Peds Hem/Onc Center gave me a thumbs up, and informed me that the meds worked, and I was on the road to recovery!
