(Bethesda, MD, Friday, April 26, 2019) – Bethesda-resident Ryan Darby was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in December of 2009. During treatment, it was tough, his body took a toll. He got headaches, pain in his knees and pain in his back. During that time, he received so much love and support from family and friends. That support inspired his loved ones to start a foundation, and JUST TRYAN IT was born. In the last ten years it has transpired into a movement.

JUST TRYAN IT is a non-profit foundation supporting families fighting childhood cancer, and seeks to positively impact the lives of families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer by providing them with financial assistance. JUST TRYAN IT also strives to instill the importance of philanthropy and service, promote wellness, and inspire tomorrow’s leaders to make a difference.

The first race was held in Bethesda at Landon School in 2010.  Since then, kids’ triathlons have been held in four locations, including Baltimore, Alexandria, Chapel Hill. A race it also being hosted in Pioneer Valley, MA in September. Proceeds from the Bethesda event will support families in treatment for pediatric cancer in the Greater Washington, DC-area.
