Kwami was a happy, healthy child until one day he became ill at school and began to exhibit a number of strange symptoms over the next few months. An MRI finally revealed a malignant tumor in the pineal region of his brain. He went through intensive chemotherapy and proton radiation treatment over the next 10 months with success. The tumor was gone. Kwami steadily recovered and had two good years before another MRI revealed signs of recurrence three years after his original diagnosis. He has since gone through additional treatments, with some success and some complications. His family now hopes he may be a candidate for a clinic trial and that there will be continued advancements in the treatment of his type of cancer. He is now nine years old and still a ray of light and an inspiration for our family.

Kwami loves playing with his iPad, with Lego’s, and outside with his friends. He enjoys cartoons, movies and reading books. He also loves school.
