2016: The Year’s Highlights

It was a great year! Here is a list of some of our accomplishments over the past 12 months. Thanks for being a part of it all.

  1. We held 3 kids triathlons! Our first in Chapel Hill and Baltimore, and our 7th race in Bethesda. 
  2. Maddie Escaler was our 1st triathlete with cerebral palsy to complete our kids triathlon. 
  3. We welcomed hundreds of new racers and families into our community.
  4. We expanded our STARS program and number of STARS to over 40 cancer patients.
  5. We received the largest donation in our history, $50,000, from an anonymous donor.
  6. We passed $1 million in cumulative giving to families.  
  7. We helped more than 100 hundred families in need.
  8. We partnered with Family Reach to further our reach to families. More details to come on this!
  9. We integrated new fundraising software.
  10. We collected a record number of corporate matches to enhance our fundraising dollars.
  11. We Facebooked, Tweeted and LinkedIn’d more than ever before. We posted more than 750 social media posts and past the 2,000 followers mark on Facebook.
  12. We successfully transitioned our financials to Quickbooks.
  13. We launched a new website.
  14. We integrated two new board members, Susan Apgood and Eliza Botti, and said goodbye to long time board member, Will McKinnon.
  15. We successfully migrated the Executive Director position to Carrie Norry.
  16. We dedicated two days to organizing and investing in our board management and overall infrastructure.
